I don't know how long we can sustain this anymore. I mean I don't know how much pull this has anymore. The nervous system knows best, of course.
The American dream, which once was the opportunity to carve out the life you wanted, has become the opportunity to retain whatever humanness you have if you are lucky.
Now, rather than the desire to coexist and build, it seems we would simply like to create a refuge by which we may be able to stave off the poison of modern life.
And those who attempt to change that feel sort of naive to me.
I don't think you actually have any say in it in that sense. Perhaps you simply allow yourself to become so sensitive to the reality of the situation. Numbness is backwards because of course someone is feeling the reality. So instead you become so immersed in the reality that you are able to behave candidly. It allows your nervous system to regulate properly. The game seems to hinge on you having just enough hope to dysregulate yourself and cling. But if you could really be sensitive, you may be able to coax the fly out of the bottle.
That is the hardest thing, allowing yourself to be sensitive to reality.
Only through that can a renaissance be achieved, as it will have shed the last layer of abstraction that society has wrapped onto the world.
Some new age teachers talk about a new earth, or a raised consciousness. In an effort to retain my dignity, I think it's best we just speak very candidly and normally.
